Mrs. Hansen's Kindergarten Class

 _MG_0115

Even when kids play, they learn.  The same can be said of singing and learning especially if it involves moving around rather than sitting still for 4 and 5 year olds.

In Mrs. Hansen's class students are learning phonics, reading, addition facts, penmanship, the Books of the Old Testament from Genesis to Daniel, the Books of the New Testament from Matthew to Ephesians, the seven continents, and states and capitals.  Mrs. Hansen's students have also started working on Psalms 23:1-6.

Once students have memorized facts, verses and stories, parents and teachers can lead kids in public speaking activities.  Students speak to the class and showcase their great memory skills. They also build their confidence at public speaking in front of their peers and adults.  This is an excellent way to test students’ comprehension.  Even the most shy student is eager to share what they have learned once they see other students performing and earning praise.

The most important lessons for younger students are:

1) Be a good listener
2) Make eye contact
3) Speak clearly
4) Don't fidget
5) Speak loud enough for your audience

These are five lessons that will students them well in any environment, classroom or profession.
